You can make this sugar scrub in just 5 minutes and you probably already have all of the ingredients in your pantry! (Get the FREE printable labels at the bottom of the post!)
Here’s a step-by-step guide to the recipe I used:
How to make Vanilla Lavender Sugar Scrub
Ingredients:

- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup coconut oil (almond or olive oil would also work)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (try my homemade recipe!)
- 10-15 drops lavender essential oil
- Food coloring *Optional*
(You can switch up the ingredients to create any scented combination you want; think Coconut Vanilla, Cucumber Mint, Strawberry Lemonade… the possibilities are endless!)
Step 1: Sugar
Depending on the quantity of sugar scrub you are wanting to make, you may have to alter the measurements – just remember you want to use 75% sugar and 25% oil.
For this recipe, I made small batches using 1 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil.
Step 2: Oil
Warm up the coconut oil in the microwave for 30 seconds (or until oil is in liquid form). Add to the sugar and mix well.
Step 3: Vanilla
For this recipe I wanted the calming effects of lavender, but the sweet aroma of vanilla. I used 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and stirred that into the sugar/oil mixture.

*Optional step: food coloring*
To get a soft purple hue to match the lavender scent I was using, I added 6 drops of red food coloring and 4 drops of blue food coloring. Feel free to skip this step as it does not offer any benefit to the scrub besides making it pretty 🙂
Step 5: Lavender Essential Oil
Last but not least, add the lavender essential oil. Not only does lavender smell A-MA-ZING, it is known for its calming effects.
Perfect for this at-home-spa-treatment recipe!
Once you’re finished it should look something like this:
To add the finishing touch, spoon your scrub into a little glass jar and voila!
I added cute labels that I printed out on kraft paper and tied around the jar with twine.
I loved the sweet wording and the ‘Scoop, Scrub, Rinse’ phrase the Classy Clutter blog used on their labels and tweaked the wording/font to fit the style I was going for.

Want a face scrub also. Do you have one?
This would work great for a face scrub as well!
I will definitely do this!!!!! I’m sure I’ll LOVE it!!!!!!
Awesome, I’m sure you will too!
How long a shelf life once placed in a jar?
The longest I’ve kept my sugar scrub was around 10 months and it was still in great condition. The color had faded a little but the functionality of the scrub was great! Hope that helps.
Love the idea and will be using at a bridal shower soon. Just one thing I need: Where did you find your cute jars? I can’t seem to find them. Thank you!
Yay, these are perfect for bridal shower favors! I got the jars from Target – I just looked up some similar ones on their website and linked them towards the bottom of the post! Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for your help, Ashley! The link was very helpful and love the jars! I can’t wait to make these. Thank you, again, for helping us to have a great bridal shower favor!
Oh I’m so glad! Have the best shower! 🙂
